Building the Lab Science
Professionals of Tomorrow
Well-trained specialists are vital to the lab science industry. Toolpoint actively bridges the gap between training and practice — connecting students, graduates and institutions with the cluster’s leading member companies.
Where Industry Meets Education
The lab science industry is knowledge-intensive and research-driven. That is why Toolpoint supports active dialogue between training institutions and industry practice at every level — from apprenticeships through to diploma and postgraduate work.
Toolpoint provides two primary pathways into the cluster: placement support for internships and diploma theses across member companies, and a curated directory of Swiss universities and applied sciences institutions offering relevant programmes.
Whether you are a student seeking hands-on industry experience or an institution looking to strengthen ties with the lab science community, Toolpoint is the connection point.
Two ways Toolpoint supports careers in lab science:
Candidates can apply to Toolpoint member companies directly for internship positions and diploma thesis opportunities — with applications forwarded by Toolpoint to the appropriate members.
Additionally, Toolpoint gives presentations on industrial clusters at various organisations and training centres, helping students and educators understand the opportunities within the lab science ecosystem.
Gain Real-World Experience in Lab Science
Various Toolpoint member companies offer internships and opportunities for diploma theses across a wide range of technical and scientific disciplines.
Apply via Toolpoint
Send your application documents to the Toolpoint office. The team will forward them to the most appropriate member companies based on your profile, interests and field of study.
Internship Placements
Gain hands-on industry experience within leading lab science companies — from analytical instrumentation manufacturers to automation, diagnostics and liquid handling specialists.
Diploma Thesis Opportunity
Member companies regularly offer opportunities for bachelor’s and master’s diploma theses — enabling students to tackle real industrial challenges with direct mentorship from practitioners.
Support Programme for High School Graduates
The Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences (OST), a Toolpoint member, runs a dedicated support programme for high school graduates. Because limited professional experience often makes it difficult for Maturität students to secure internships, OST has established preparatory IT courses and actively supports students in applying for and finding suitable placements.
